Contagious

So, since finding out that my cat July is, in fact, a boy, not a girl (yes, this would be the cat that we've had for the past nine months), we've realized that there is a very real chance that the cat that is ACTUALLY a girl is pregnant.

This appears to be contagious.

And NO, not for humans. As in, I'm not talking about myself, for those of you who are wondering. However, it has come to my attention that a decrease appetite in a dog is the first sign of pregnancy. And considering that we let my dog outside, alone, in our backyard the entire time she was in heat, there is a very real chance that my dog is pregnant as well.

I'm a little (irrationally) scared that I'm next. But that's beside the point.

My dog, Bicha, is a rescue dog. As in, we got her from a rescue organization who got her from a pound, who had her mother while and just after she was pregnant with Bicha herself. Hash, the cat who may be pregnant, is a rescue cat, but not in the same way. We were driving home from West Virginia last summer and stopped a Foxes Pizza Den, where there was a flier in the window advertising three free kittens to a good home. Being the cat lovers we are, we talked my dad into taking them and brought them home. We gave two of the kittens away to homes that we knew were good ones (including my sister's) and kept one, for my 19-year-old brother. This cat is Hash.

Since we rescued Hash ourselves, and because kittens are hard-ish to give away, we've decided that if she is pregnant, we're going to spay her (ie, have a kitty abortion).

Puppies, on the other hand, are easier to give away. We know what we did wasn't very responsible, and that we should have had Bicha spayed earlier. But my dog is a bit of a wild woman, and my mom can't get her to the vet by herself to get Bicha spayed, since my mom has neck, back, hip, knee, and feet problems. So she was waiting for summer, so that I could help her. We know that there are constantly new dogs being filtered into the animal shelter, but we do know how to be responsible when it comes to raising small animals and finding them good homes. After all, we got July when he was only three weeks old, and he turned out to be the best cat we've ever had.

So, anyone need any puppies?
